The SMAC exists for the purpose of flavour discovery and palate development. Meetings are held once a month in Brisbane, Australia where members get together and drink delicious whisky without ever having to fork out too much. Basically we share the cost of the bottle(s) and then share our thoughts. Non-meeting tasting notes will be added too, so get in touch if you would like to contribute.

Highland Park 12 years

$69.99 from Dan Murphy's. 40%

Highland Park is Scotland's most Northerly distillery. It isn't a Highland malt as one might think by its name but rather is located on the Isle of Orkney. It was founded in 1798 and is one of only a few distilleries in the world that still has a hand-turned malting house on site. This micro malting provides 20% of the Highland Park grain bill. Michael Jackson describes it as 'the greatest all-rounder in the world of malt whisky'.
