The SMAC exists for the purpose of flavour discovery and palate development. Meetings are held once a month in Brisbane, Australia where members get together and drink delicious whisky without ever having to fork out too much. Basically we share the cost of the bottle(s) and then share our thoughts. Non-meeting tasting notes will be added too, so get in touch if you would like to contribute.

Talisker 10 years

$66.99 from Dan Murphy's. 45.8%

Talisker was founded in 1830 and today remains as the only single malt distillery on the Isle of Skye. It was destroyed by fire in 1960 but rebuilt almost exactly the same. They still use worm tubs which are condensing coils, rather than a modern condenser, which leave a higher sugar content resulting in a fuller body. It is considered 'The King o' drinks' by poet Robert Louis Stevenson, and I'm inclined to agree.
